  1. You will want to download the USB Pole Display Driver, located here:
     http://www.pos-x.com/downloads/8200-USB%20Driver.exe
Run this program, and when prompted to Restart your machine, please do so.

  2. After reboot, go into Device Manager (Control Panel: System: Hardware: Device Manager),
and look under the Ports section. You should see "Prolific USB to Serial Device (COMx)".
Please make a note of which COM port your Pole Display has been installed on.

  3. Download the Pole Display Configuration utility, located here: http://www.pos-x.com/downloads/Xp8200-2200.zip
Extract the contents to a folder, and then open up VFD_Setup.exe. Inside, select your COM Port in the Top Left Corner.
Then, click "Get Setting from VFD". Once you do this, you should get an "Upload OK" message.

  4. Next, you’ll need to go to the Printers folder in Windows and add a “Generic/Text Only” printer driver that will use the
same COM port as the pole display (see above (Step 1) in Printer and Cash Drawer).
Please note that Windows can handle multiple Generic Text Only drivers all pointing to different ports.

  6. Click File | System | System Setup.

  7. Enter Log in and Password.

  15. In Codes for Line 2 enter: 10,13 (no spaces, commas included)

  16. In Characters per Line enter: 18

  17. Next, go back to the Pole Display set-up screen and enter any text you wish displayed (while the pole is not being used)
in Pole line 1 and Pole line 2.

  18. In the Pole Printer field browse and select select the Generic Text Only printer (make sure it is the one for the pole display and NOT the one for the printer).
The Pole Display Port settings are not used with this option.
Click the Test button and the pole display should now be working.
